Composition and Vocal Workshops

Our workshops can either be a single visit or a sequential series ending with an in class performance. Please contact Southland Opera directly in order to design your series.

In these sequential Composition workshops, the students will:

Retell and adapt a traditional story, or create their own original story, using lyrics they have written.
Apply this story to a melody.
Learn theatre techniques necessary for live performance such as interpretation, movement and focus
Learn proper vocal technique, including breath support, proper diction and placement of the voice.
