Southland
Opera’s mission is to provide high quality, live productions of opera
and musical theater to children and adults. We recognize and believe in
the value of arts-enhanced learning and are committed to productions of
excellence marked by artistic integrity. We work directly with teachers
and students to bring collaborative, hands-on workshops where students
will experience music, not just hear it, but live it and create it
themselves.
Southland Opera has worked with
the Orange County Performing Arts Center Education division since 1998.
To date we have had over seven thousand performances and workshops for
nearly two million students, throughout Southern California.
We're Breathing New Life into Opera!
Southland Opera performs lively, fully staged productions to patrons
of all backgrounds. As a qualified 501(c)(3) organization,
our emphasis includes educational outreach performances brought
to public and private schools, libraries, churches, clubs
and the community at large. We strive for fresh and exciting
renditions of classic and popular stories. Additionally, we
often introduce productions with a vital social message or
theme to impart upon the audience.
