Southland Opera is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation dedicated
to bringing high-quality programming to audiences throughout
Southern California.
In addition to having a strong adult outreach program, Southland
Opera is committed to bringing opera and musical theatre into
the classroom. We recognize the value of the arts in enhancing
learning. Through our Educational Outreach Program, we have
performed over 2,500 music assemblies and
reached more than half a million local children.
We are devoted to presenting productions on school campuses
that are fresh, exciting, accessible and consistent with the
standards of performing excellence.
Southland Opera is a member of the LAUSD Arts Community Partnership Network, a collaborative group that promotes the rigor, joy and discovery in artistic expression, teaching and learning. In many cases this exposure of a live performance is for
children who would otherwise not have access to this enriching
activity.
The years ahead are certain to be exciting! We plan to continue
to grow our offerings for both children and adult audiences.
With many different ways to participate, we invite you to
be a part of the adventure!

Southland Opera has prepared study materials for many of
its ongoing productions and encourages teachers to use them
to introduce their students to the music and stories of the
operas.
